Committee on World Food Security, Sustainability, and Waste

Due to unprecedented amounts of food waste and global climate change in the past, food is running out at an alarming rate across the globe. Smaller countries are facing alarming and imminent food shortages even though larger nations are still able to maintain relative normalcy through technological and scientific advancements. The disparity between these nations is also prevalent within developing countries with high rates of poverty and low life expectancies.

This double delegate Committee on World Food Security seeks to combat the current food crisis due to the large food inequality gap and tremendous food use and waste of the past for a better and more fulfilling future. The CWF, under the United Nation’s principal organ, ECOSOC, was established to propose regulations concerning global food issues, propose innovative ideas and solutions, and analyze the current large-scale conflict of world hunger, food insecurity, and sustainability.

In a near and probable future filled with much uncertainty, delegates should remain ever-vigilant and consider several factors that impact global prosperity and world hunger as a whole. Should larger countries be required to start cutting down on their food intake? Should rationing be in consideration for countries that have an excess of resources? What steps can be taken by this committee to ensure food security for all nations? How will food waste be addressed and what measures can be implemented to mitigate the damage? How will public perception be changed and will the media address such a concerning issue?
